SO Marketing is taking on the Cancer Research Cycle Challenge, with a twist… On the 28th September the team is attempting to ride 300 miles in 24 hours on a stationary bike that’s set up in the creative studio.

The team is really excited to raise money for a great cause. We’ll be sharing the miles between us, completing individual stints throughout the 24 hours until we reach the 300 mile mark! Between 13 members of the team taking part, we’ll be cycling around 24 miles each and will have to ride at around 12mph to complete the challenge in time. It’s a tough challenge and we’re not sure if we can do it in 24 hours but we’ll certainly try!

With charity donations falling throughout the lockdown period and fundraising events being put on hold, we wanted to help out and hold an event. We’re fortunate enough to have the space and facilities to host an event and comply with social distancing requirements. Great care will be taken during the event to ensure social distancing is in place for all team members and thorough cleaning of the bike will happen during swap overs.

Originally, the plan was to hold an open day at our Staffordshire office and invite the local community and clients to visit us throughout the event. However, due to the upsurge in COVID cases and tightening of restrictions, we’re now holding this as a digital event that we’ll live stream through our social media channels.

Lianne Shea, our Account Manager, is arranging the event and heading up the fund raising activities. She states “It’s really important for us to ensure we can do as much as we can to help charities that rely on donations. Particularly during the Covid Pandemic where fundraising events are on hold and the charity sector needs support more than ever. After a torn ligament in my foot just days after getting the rest of the team on board, I’ve not been able to train so I’m winging it! Please wish us luck and donate where you can.”
