The current owner, Ian Hassell, has worked at the company for 35 years. E H Hassell and Sons now employs over 50 people.
This is a company steeped in history, with great respect from clients and peers in the industry, so it was without a doubt that we were extremely excited to work with them. Especially as a local name not far from us in Staffordshire.
The team approached us looking for a new website to replace the previous very out-dated website. However, after our initial meetings and brainstorming sessions we very quickly realised that in order to achieve a good outcome for the project, we needed to approach the client with our concept of a full brand overhaul to be done alongside the website project. This complete overhaul would ensure everything blended seamlessly and allowed the business to grow into the next decade with contemporary class.
As we were simultaneously suggesting a full company rebrand as well as a new website that allows the client to add products themselves, manage content and have a better sales approach, we had to take the project back to basics and look at the brand as a whole and to how this works going forwards with the business. As part of the process, we also had to get the buy-in from everyone involved in the company as we appreciated that suggesting more than just a new website was not something the business was expecting. However, we were very pleased when our ideas were adopted across the board.
This kind of positive thinking and enthusiasm for change from a client is something we always relish. Working together, both agency and client, ensures the best outcome from a design perspective AND a user/client point of view.
Alongside a new brand, we produced designs that have led on to the printed material for the business being re-designed. The original brief, now expanded on was also completed with the new website redesign and development. The website itself, is a WordPress based solution which allows our client to now manage the website and products themselves. Fitting in with the new brand, the website fixes all of the issues of the original website by expanding the amount of in-site content from 10 pages to over 200, giving increased search engine exposure.
We thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and it was a great example of how, when a client is enthusiastic and ready to embrace change in their business, they can continue to be a main player in their industry. Our relationship with Hassell’s has also continued beyond this initial project too with us then working on the corporate brochure, business stationery and a second engineering website. This is another example of how an initial project can lead to a success long-term relationship between agency and client for years to come.
