SO Marketing are after someone to look after their virtual piggy bank – could it be you?
It’s been a crazy old year for SO Marketing; we’ve taken on loads of new clients, grown the family a bit and even moved house! With even more new and exciting projects in the pipeline for next year, it looks as though 2016 is shaping up to be a pretty big one as well.
That being said – as the song goes – ‘Money makes the world go round’, which is why we’re looking for a part-time credit controller to liaise with clients, chase up invoices and generally help keep us in a steady supply of fancy biscuits and expensive coffee; us creative types do need our caffeine after all. If this sounds like something that’s ‘right up your street’, please do read on!
Hello, is it SO you’re looking for?
So who are SO Marketing? Good question, you’re inquisitive – we like you already. We’re a lively and fun creative agency based in Leek (as of April this year) whose passion for bold, innovative designs have enabled us to deal with a range of clients, from regional small businesses to international names. We’re a plucky bunch who are happy to turn our hand to everything design-wise, from logos and branding concepts through to websites and promotional print material; if it’s been posted anonymously through your letter box, there’s a good chance we’ve designed it.
We’ve built our client base from the ground up, and every company we work with, whether it’s a local business based in Leek or an international e-commerce site, benefits from our utmost attention to detail and experience. Oh and we won a few awards too – but we’re not the type to brag about it endlessly…
Official Bread-Winner / Bacon-Bringer required
Now, although we’re confident we’ve got the design side of things pretty much locked down, we are looking for a bit of help in the finance department. When it comes to chasing invoices up, we’ve got a tendency to get a bit typically British; there’s lots of quiet mumbling, shifting our feet uncomfortably and offering cups of tea etc.
We’re not after someone who’ll charge their doors down with a Trojan horse, but we do need a confident, driven individual able to secure payments and maintain great client relationships. With that in mind, here are a few things we need from you:
- Organised: As our credit controller, we’re going to need you to keep a close eye on the business’s revenue, keeping track of payment due dates and managing an on-going list of clients with outstanding invoices.
- Approachable: As a company that has cut their teeth on small businesses, we appreciate just how important client relationships are. Although naturally we need someone who’s direct and confident enough to secure payments, we also need them to understand that the great relationships we have with our clients are part of what makes us tick.
- Computer Savvy: It pretty much goes without saying these days that basic knowledge of programmes like Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel are necessary. Any additional knowledge of invoicing software would basically be the icing on the cake.

Do all these things sound like you? If so, we’re eager to hear from you! Drop us a CV and short cover letter explaining why you’d be great for the job by emailing [email protected]. Bear in mind that although experience isn’t necessary it would be preferred; some awareness of/interest in the marketing industry would also be beneficial.
