Warning: Graphic Content
We’re just kidding, there’s nothing NSFW in this blog, just some new and innovative ways to take your graphic design concepts a little further. We’ve all seen print ads in magazines, stared at billboards on the train and even had more than a few pointless leaflets thrust at us when we’re out and about, so maybe it’s time to start getting a little more ‘out of the box’ when it comes to our visual assets.
It’s the Little Things that Matter
What do you see when you look around your desk? Go on, right now, just take a quick glance around. There’s a computer that you’re supposed to be working at, probably a collection of pens, but weirdly no lids, and definitely the odd Twix wrapper here and there, even though if anyone asks, you’re definitely sticking to your 5:2 diet. Well let me tell you, that’s not what we see. As professional graphic designers, we look at your desk and see an advertising opportunity. Those pens with the magically disappearing lids could well be adorned with your company logo, the paper on which you send out invoices, notices and more could easily be emblazoned with a distinctive design. All of these subtle features help to increase your brand awareness, and let’s be honest; nothing says “credible businessman” like branded stationery.
Think BIGGER
Graphic design isn’t just about flyers and leaflets, but on the other hand, it isn’t limited to towering billboards either; if you’ve got the means and the budget, your visual elements can be resized and tailored to suit your individual requirements. Hardwearing banners, for example, are a great way to increase brand recognition when you’re out on the move, either at local events or (if you’ve spent your money on the design itself) just wandering up and down your local high street. Vehicle wrapping and livery can turn a clunky old rust bucket into a portable advert for your business.
But why stop there? If it’s time for an office refurb, perhaps incorporate some dynamic graphic design elements into your new look. Fashion favours the bold, right? So why not invest in some brazen, striking designs and build them into your new office’s interior design, a unique way to get your brand and ethos across to visiting clients and staff alike. Using either vinyl office decals, or even custom wallpaper, build your branding and message into the very fabric of your workspace.
Professional graphic design is about vibrancy, creativity and innovation, so it stands to reason that you should be trying to develop your visual assets in the most unconventional way possible. Leaflet drops are highly effective, and direct mail can put you in touch with the most relevant consumers, but sometimes graphic design just requires a slightly edgier mindset to truly make an impact.
