Speculation has been floating about recently about changes to the google ranking algorithm. It’s still too early to identify the content of the changes but as usual your SEO could be affected.
Google employees have yet to give confirmation for the update which has been named “Fred” and in typical Google fashion have opted to stay quiet in relation to the update deciding to tell curios users that “we make changes almost every day”. From studying a variety of data, we have concluded that this update is heavily related to link quality. We also recommend studying your rankings and traffic since the possible changes and conducting some research of your own to discover some more about these changes.
Several link orientated threads displayed statistics that support the idea of this algorithm change being dangerous for sites that choose to not prioritise the quality of their links. Generally, these threads attract link savvy users so when the amount of traffic to these sites increases we can presume a link quality algorithm update has occurred. Sites such as AccuRanker and Algoroo display significant fluctuation in google traffic from March 9th onwards suggesting algorithmic change despite Google staying coy about the subject.
The best course of action you can take is to study your traffic numbers and if you have seen a decrease then we recommend looking at your inbound links and ensuring they are optimised which includes in some cases, removing bad quality links. Not only this but if you have not seen a decrease then we would suggest taking extra care when it comes to the quality of links in future to ensure your traffic levels maintain their regular statistics.

Since Google have remained tight lipped about the subject this is of course all logical speculation based primarily on research that we have done over the last few days on sites and content elsewhere in the community. Be sure to take care with your SEO until the traffic fluctuation settles down and remember that poor link quality is likely the cause but not certainly!

We have recently been informed that as of the latest version of Google Chrome, the world’s most popular web browser (75% of the market as of January 2017), all websites that don’t have an SSL certificate will be flagged up as ‘Not Secure’.
